NEWS DESK- Yesterday, North Syria achieved a new development in terms of resolving Syrian crisis through the consolidation of the federal system, while the meeting in Geneva failed for the eighth time in a row to agree on one issue regarding the Syrian crisis which cost the lives of hundreds thousands of Syrians.
If we go back a bit, we will see that the components of the Syrian North met in March 16-17 2016 to find a way out of the Syrian crisis that began peacefully in March 15, 2011 and turned into militarization less than a year later. In this meeting, more than 200 representatives of the peoples of North, political parties, religious persons and representatives of women and youth adopted the democratic federal system as a model for resolving the Syrian crisis and formed the Constituent Council of the Federal system in the north of Syria.
After a year and several months, specifically in July 27, 2017, the Constituent Council of the Democratic Federation met after the Social Contract of the Democratic Federation was established. Again, at this meeting, they ratified the administrative divisions’ law according to which the Syrian North was divided into three cantons and also set the dates for federal elections in three stages.
The first stage, which took place in September 21, achieved great success with the people heading to the ballot boxes where co-chairs of the Communes were elected, which is the nucleus of democratic federalism. Yesterday, the second stage of the elections, which included local council elections (districts, towns and cantons) Now preparations for the third and final stage, including the Conference of Democratic Peoples election (Parliament).
The elections held yesterday showed the level of awareness reached by the peoples of North of Syria from Kurd, Arab, Syriac, Assyrian, Turkmen, and Circassians by coming to the ballot boxes to elect their representatives.
These elections and the candidates’ competition showed the falsity of the Turkish allegations and their allegiance to those who call themselves the Syrian opposition to the subordination of this administration to one party. The elections witnessed a great rivalry between 18 Kurdish, Arabic, Syriac and Assyrian parties; in addition to the Democratic Alliance as all are comprised under the list of the Democratic Nation and the Independents lists.
On the other hand, if we look at what happened in Geneva, which started its first trip in 2012, we would see that the fate of such meetings is a failure, why? First, because the representatives of the real people and those who have the democratic solution that fulfills the aspirations of the Syrian people.
The head of the regime’s delegation Bashar al-Jaafari said “The Riyadh statement 2 is totally rejected, especially because it does not take into account the political and military developments that have taken place since the days of the former envoy AL-Akhdar Al-Ibrahimi and so far, and he added that “They are returning today to Damascus and will not return to the proposed tour by the middle of the current month only with the consent of Damascus.
