Soon… Cultural Center opened in Ain Issa district


Ain Issa – The Culture and Art Committee in the Civil Council al- Raqqa is preparing to open a cultural center in the district of Ain Issa, and is planning literary, cultural and artistic projects soon.

In order to restore the spirit of art and to revive the culture again after the blackout and darkness left behind by IS mercenaries during their control of the Ain Issa district of the canton of Girê Sipî in the Euphrates region, the Culture and Art Committee in the Civil Council to open a cultural center for the re-gathering of writers, intellectuals and artists, and work will begin in mid-September

The center will include several sections, including “Literature and Poetry Department, Art and Sculpture Department, Theater Department, Theater for Adults and Children, Novel and Stories Department, Music Department, which will represent the heritage of the community of al-Raqqa

Projects planned after opening

The Culture and Art Committee has prepared some projects and plans in the field of culture and art to be started immediately after the opening of its center. It will organize cultural and literary festivals, poetry, plastic arts, children’s theater, preparing the Antiquities and Museums Department and preparing a folkloric museum for folklore and Most importantly, a school for people with disabilities will be also opened.

It will also seek to establish a cultural festival that reflects the culture and nature of women in the city of al-Raqqa, and an exhibition of plastic art in coordination with the Women’s House in Ain Issa district, in addition to cooperation with the Women’s Committee in the Civil Council.

On this subject, the director of the Culture and Art Committee, Jalaa Hamzawi, pointed out that they will seek to revive and spread the heritage of al-Raqqa. They will tour the liberated areas of the city of al-Raqqa and communicate with all intellectuals, writers, artists and amateurs.

She explained that the shape of the cultural center will reflect the nature of al-Raqqa environment, including a piece of furniture within a tent according to the Arabic traditions, musical instruments known in the area, “the flute, banjo and drum” “, In addition to ancient and archaeological pots placed within the tent.

The first projects to be held by the center after its opening on September15, two festivals will be organized, one in Ain Issa camp for refugees. The festival will include poetry, stories and plays for children and a special art exhibition for children while Hamzawi did not specify where the other festival will be held.

At the end of her speech, the administrative in the Culture and Art Committee of the Civil Council of al-Raqqa Jalaa al-Hamzawi appealed to all the writers and artists displaced from the city of al-Raqqa to return to the city and work to revive what IS mercenaries killed, as their hatred for art and culture was manifested in all ways.
